How we install sod
Sod is only as good as what’s under it. We fix the grade first so water runs away from the house, then prep the soil so the roots can take hold.
- Old turf and weeds removed

Watering new sod, town by town
- Mount Prospect lets you water new sod any time for the first two weeks.
- Schaumburg allows new sod to be watered at any hour for 30 days.
- Glencoe offers a temporary sprinkling permit for new sod or seed.
- Other towns have summer sprinkling limits, so we’ll tell you what applies at your address.
When to book
Spring and early fall are the best times to lay sod. Book spring 2027 installs this winter, since spring dates fill first.
Common questions
Sod or seed?
Sod gives you a finished lawn right away and holds soil on slopes. Seed costs less but takes a season to fill in. We’ll recommend what fits your yard and budget.
When can we walk on it?
Keep traffic off for about two weeks while the roots knit in. You’ll know it’s rooted when a corner won’t lift.
Can you fix low spots at the same time?
Yes. Regrading low spots is part of the prep, and it’s the reason our sod doesn’t puddle.
